Technical efficiency of pineapple production and challenges in Southern Benin

The need to improve the productivity and quality of pineapple produced meet demand supply with international standards necessitates exploring production potentials. So, assessing technical efficiency producers is essential avoid waste resources above all target advices for improving producers. Studies conducted on in Benin have paid less attention resource requirements its determinants. This study estimated efficiencies identified some socio-economic factors which influence them. A random sampling was employed select 253 five districts southern Benin. Stochastic frontier function approach using a translog used estimate producers, while inefficiency model determine factor affecting efficiencies. results showed that level ranged from 96.87% 96.96% mean 96.91%, suggests average output 3.04% short maximum possible level. implies could still by 3.04%. shows market access, labor, land fertilizer credit access soil increase if monitored.
